STEM: SIMPLE MACHINE MOVEMENT

PRESENTER:
Kellie Yates

DESCRIPTION:
The human body is made to move.  Why do some parts move differently than others?  The answer:  LEVERS!  Levers are one of the 6 "simple machines", which are responsible for the movement of most of the human body.  There are three types of levers, and each type can be found in the body.  In this session we will discuss the three types of levers, make models of the human body using simple lever models, and look at different motions to determine why they work the way they do.  This will be a fun session focusing on integrating STEM, primarily science, into physical education experiences.
